Family Olive Growing History began In 1870

Olive Growing Culture Since 1870

Heritage  - History

  Located in the
3000 Years ,Homeric Sea Side Village
Of Pteleos in Southwest Magnesia

Territory
Of King Protessilaus

The ancient area  inhabitants were called Phthians
and they participated in the Trojan War with 40 ships (Il. 2.710).
The cities mentioned by Homer are: 1. Phylace, 2. Pyrasus, 3. Iton, 4. Antron, 5. Pteleos.

 Pteleos is referred as "lehepii
(Lehos Ancient Greek, which is interpreted as 'bed' and "pii" means "poa, hloi"
meaning greenness, green vegetation) which should lead us to believe that Pteleos was situated
in a landscape full of "lush pastures".

Heritage  - Harvesting

Olive Groves
Of Organic Cultivation

Our cultivation practices are based on ancestral methods and sustainable practices. This approach includes the cultivation of olive trees in larger fields, with lower plant density and a largely manual handling of agricultural tasks. In traditional production, techniques such as manual pruning, harvesting by hand or with sticks, and the use of organic fertilizers are used. These practices are generally more sustainable and less damaging to the environment, using organic and less invasive methods. By these means we produce olive goods with improved preservation of their organoleptic characteristics.

Heritage  - Land Knowledge

Profound Locale & Micloclimate Knowldge

The priceless past generations’ knowledge and experience on land, soil, microclimate and local varieties is our important heritage and the road path for the development efforts of the next generations. Our diverse ecosystem demands our respect in order to continue giving us the best olive goods in terms of quality and health protection properties.

The Hunt For Wild  Superfood

Traditional knowledge about wild edible plants has been seriously threatened for several generations, due to the progressive abandonment of conventional ways of life and the massive exodus of the population from the countryside to the city. Considering that the population is currently aware of the relationship between diet and health and that plant-based diets are increasing among consumers worldwide, it is relevant to boost the potential of wild plants as a source of bioactive compounds to promote their consumption in modern societies, which would contribute to the preservation of traditional knowledge, improve biodiversity, sustainability, and generate economic development  opportunities in traditional rural region collecting areas in Greece.
